Hello and thanks for leaning into your mental wellness. Balancing mental wellbeing is a journey and you do not have to navigate it alone. I strive to offer hope, support and tools for change. I am a compassionate and experienced mental health therapist with a specialization in trauma, depression and anxiety. I strive to offer a safe and non judgmental space to explore a multitude of concerns from a single episode to long term challenges. I believe that each person has strengths and is ultimately the expert of their own life. My role is to work as a team with you to shine a light on your strengths and enhance coping skills. To hold space for feelings and discomfort, and to address old systems, survival skills and stuck points, so that you may positively grow and change.
I am rooted in a strengths based perspective, provide trauma informed care and have extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I completed my Honours Bachelor of Social Work in 2006 from the University of Windsor. I started my Social Work career while I was still in school, working at a grass roots agency offering advocacy and brief counselling interventions to the downtown community. As I gained work experience, I realized that I had a passion for counselling, and decided to pursue my Master's Degree. I attended Wayne State University, with a specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I interned within the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan, which gave me a rich opportunity to build my skill set, and I completed my Masters of Social Work degree in 2008. I acquired 14 years of clinical experience as a therapist working in collaboration with medical providers and allied health in a local family health team. This offered me tremendous insight into the mind/body connection. In addition to my specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I have a certification in trauma counselling and have an appreciation for how traumatic life events and the lessons we gain from them shape and change our lens, have attended many training opportunities through Rainbow Health Ontario to promote counseling as a safe and inclusive space, and as a lifelong learner, continue to grow and develop professionally.
My next chapter is offering counselling in a holistic setting that promotes wellness and a safe space to process, restore balance and heal. Starting where you are at and supporting your unique needs is a pillar of social work practice and something I truly believe in.
A bit about me:
Born and raised in the Windsor - Essex county community. I'm a momma of two, live in the country with a veggie garden and free range chickens, love time in nature and being near the water, and camp up north in the summertime. I have a lifelong love of running and recognize that the "stops and starts, successes, injuries and comebacks" of the running process are comparable to that in life.
I invite you to take the first step to reach out and connect with me. It is a privilege for me to be part of someone's growth and journey.
