An Odyssey is defined as ”a long wandering or voyage usually marked by many changes of fortune”. Here at Odyssey Wellness Services, we believe that life is an epic journey filled with highs and lows, challenges and accomplishments, that we are constantly changing from. We also believe that everyone deserves to have support in navigating these challenges and celebrating our successes. Odyssey began in early 2021 by two Clinical Social Workers, Jaclyn Karpus and Tracie Gignac. We believe that seeking out counselling/therapy should be as normal and accepted as reaching out to your Primary Care Provider.
Odyssey is here to provide therapeutic counselling to individuals looking for support in various areas of their lives. Anyone over the age of 6 is invited to reach out for an appointment at any time.
Our Social Workers are trained and certified in various specialties and modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Attachment, Trauma Informed care. They can support you with a variety of challenges ranging from work/life stress, anxiety and mood disorders, assertive communication, self-esteem, relationships, as well as PTSD and recovering from trauma.
Odyssey Wellness Services also focuses on the specialization of peripartum mood and anxiety disorders. We believe that parents and families need more support not only leading up to the birth of a child, but also in the crucial stages afterwards. We encourage birth parents, birth partners or anyone else included in the circle of care to contact us – either to prepare or to process this major life transition.
We are here to help you navigate your life journey and equip you with all the tools and skills you need to manage all that life brings.
Clinical Social Worker
Before becoming a Social Worker, I practiced as a Registered Massage Therapist, where I also trained in pregnancy massage and as a labour support provider. I was fortunate to be invited and included in several parent’s unique journeys into parenthood. It gave me some great exposure to learning about how people process this transition, as well as some of their fears, insecurities, hopes and vulnerabilities.
Clinical Social Worker
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 8 years of experience working in mental health, and over 14 years working in developmental services. I have my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor and have participated in extensive professional and personal development opportunities due to a passion for growth and learning.
